Daniel Watkins

Daniel has worked in education as a teacher, tutor and education consultant for over 30 years. He began his teaching career in leading British independent schools including Glenalmond and Marlborough Colleges. He has considerable experience teaching ‘A’ levels and the IBDP to international school students in the Middle and Far East including Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Malaysia. He was Head of English at the Modern English School in Cairo and Canford School. 

He was the private tutor to the family of HRH Prince Khalid bin Faisal, former Saudi Education Minister, for sixteen years and was the founding director of a private tutor school and examination centre for members of the Royal Family in Riyadh.

More recently he has worked as a private English consultant and researcher for the CEO of the King Khalid Foundation.

Daniel  teaches A Level courses in: English, English Literature, Psychology, Business Studies, Economics and Global Perspectives. He is the school’s Examinations Officer and  coordinator for the Upper Adolescent Programme. He has first class honours degrees in both English and Psychology. He is an alumnus of Churchill College, Cambridge where he read Philosophy. His PGCE is from Bristol University.

Before teaching, Daniel was an Inspector in the Royal Hong Kong Police Force. He then worked as an accountant for Coopers & Lybrand and Workman & Partners. Daniel is an independent author and publisher and he writes novels. He is a keen runner and plays the ‘cello. When not teaching, he enjoys spending time with his family in Scotland and on their small farm in central Portugal.
